Market Sprouts

Market Sprouts is a program focused on educating children (and their parents) on the importance of eating fresh, local produce. In addition to other garden related activities, farmers from our market donate different crops for taste testing, all of which have been grown within a 100-mile radius of Edwardsville. Children learn educational facts about crops and healthy eating and meet with farmers. Since 2017, the Market Sprouts Garden has provided an opportunity for our Sprouts to grow their own food and learn about sustainable farming practices. Coordinator Kendall Moore and assistant coordinator Kelsey Moore design and lead the weekly activities. Stop by and say Hi!

Our Market Sprouts garden is doing double duty this season! Openminds 4H is caring for the garden while they use it as an outdoor classroom. Check out the beautiful things they’ve planted and admire their hard work.

Perennial Community Workshop+store has generously donated a rain barrel so that we can sustainably water our little garden. They offer classes on a variety of upcycling projects, including how to build a rain barrel.

Check out this week’s activities and join us under the big orange tent!
